Microsoft pulled its long-running operating system Windows XP from the pit of sure death and allowed it to live to die another day.
But if Bill Gates had his way however, he would force Windows XP’s retirement from the market by middle of next year, a move that could leave Windows OS fans with no choice but to use Windows Vista thereafter.
But many people aren’t fans of Vista. I myself feel I have not missed anything from my continued use of XP. Perhaps XP would only be retired after the release of what should be aptly call XPRM (XP replacement model), tentatively called Windows 7.
Or perhaps it’s time to give the man in the Red Hat a serious look? Or switch to Apple instead. Whatever the case maybe, here is an article — which also contains heated discussions — on the latest Windows XP move by Microsoft.

Fedora based Linux distros are pretty tricky to run and as far as I know doesn’t have as huge a support as debian based distros like Ubuntu. I’d actually stick with that if you want to replace Windows or at least have an alternative machine. Works for me at least.
Am not familiar with Linux also, in fact Windows is the only OS I’m comfortable of using.. Still, I hope the new Windows 7 would still retain some of XP’s features
