Tubeless In Pakistan As Govt Blocks YouTube
Posted on February 26th, 2008 in YouTube |
For several hours on Monday hundreds of thousands of net surfers around the world were unable to access YouTube after the Pakistani government briefly blocked access to the Internet video sharing platform owned by Google, Inc.
Reports said the Pakistani government had attempted to block access to a particular YouTube clip which has since been removed following a request by the Musharraf government.
In a message to Internet users in Pakistan, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority said it had directed “all ISPs of the country to block access to www.youtube.com for containing blasphemous web content/movies.”
I missed the fun by the way as I was busy with work for eight straight hours and barely had the time to surf the net, much less YouTube site.
Still, it’s amazing to know what can one do to police the www.
