Blogger Jeff Ooi To Contest In Malaysian Election
Posted on February 16th, 2008 in Politics |
Jeff Ooi, the guy who run the popular Screenshots blog and arguably the man who pioneered socio-political blogging in Malaysia, is set to contest in the March 8 Malaysian general election as an opposition candidate.
Nomination day is on Feb 24, and by then we will know where he is contesting and against who.
Words have it that he is contesting in Penang. According to him, he will also be releasing his book titled “i-Witness” on nomination day.
His participation in the election is unique because one can look at it from many perspectives — from the straight-forward opposition versus government point of view, or even deeper than that.
More on this later… as I’ve just woken up from an afternoon nap — had a long day these past few days — my brain is still in its sleepy state and hasn’t fully warmed up to complicated thoughts yet.
Still, as I said on Wednesday, can blogs and bloggers make a different in this election?
You can read Jeff’s take on his candidacy, here. By the way, this is not a sponsord post.
