Watching The 50th Grammy Award Half Way Around The Globe

Grammy granny Tina Turner. It’s been long since my part of the world heard anything about Tina Turner, until her performance with Beyonce this morning at the 50th Grammy Award telecast live over Star World.

The Grammy was telecast live this morning in my part of the world, from 9am to 12.30pm, that is.

Thanks to a bad bout of flu which couch-potatoed me — otherwise I would have to come to the office to work (it’s Monday in this part of the world) — I got to watch the whole 210 minutes of Grammy performance from half-way across the globe.

Back to Tina, it seems that after all these years, the Queen of Rock, is still kicking and rocking. How old is she anyway? The last time I heard she was nearing 60 plus. Mind you, she was born on November 26, 1939. Nineteen-bloody-thirty-nine.

That would make her 66 years old. And she still rocks!

I, of course, listened to Tina’s singing but watched Beyonce’s dancing. Fair enough.

Then there was Alicia Keys. I think she has put on some weight. Did I hear someone asking whether Alicia Keys was pregnant? That I don’t know. Is she married by the way? This is not to say that one can’t get pregnant if one is not married though.

Anyway, she looks fine as she is, pregnant or not pregnant.

So my favourite band Foo Fighter got their taste of the Grammy this year, which is good. These guys rock like there’s no yesterday.

Of course, Josh Groban and Andre Brocelli, the blind opera singer also had their moment at the Grammy. To me, after Pavarotti, the world is left only with Brocelli. I didn’t say I don’t like Il Divo.

Okay, okay. It’s Bocelli. Andre Bocelli.

The Grammy started with a tribute to The Beatles with Lennon’s voice travelling through the decades to finally reach the Grammy Award hall.

Cheers…
