Imagine this scenario: you have listed several domain names and you plan to register one of them. Then you go and check with one of the domain registrars whether that domain name is still available.

Bingo! It is available but what the heck, you just want to check the other domain names to see if they are available as well. Ah, you breathe a sigh of relief — they are all available.

And then they are gone

Something, however, distracts you from registering the domain name right away and it is not until two days later that you have the time to sit down and manage the registration.

But to your dismay, when you try to register the favourite domain name, there is this message that says, “Sorry, that domain name is not available” or something to that effect. When you check the “WhoIs” information of that domain, you find that someone else has registered that domain name.

Not to worry, you said, because you still have several other domain names to choose from. Alas, that is not to be the case.

Front runners of different kind

To your horror, each and every domain name on your list had also been taken as well.

If you are in that situation, then you have just become the victim of “domain name front runners” — those who use insider information to pre-emptively register searched domain names.

Safeguard your self by becoming front runners yourself

There are two foolproof ways to safeguard yourself against these front runners and you must do both at the same time:

One, if have a list of favourite domain names, do not attempt to search whether they are still available if you have no plan to register them at once.

Second, once you have decided on a domain name, and established that it was still available, you must register the domain name straight away. That way, you not only outfront the front runners, but outrun them as well.

For more information on domain names front running activities, just Google them word.
