If you are in the make-money-online niche and one who knows a lot about SEO, website development, has good grasp of English grammar and able to weave your thought coherently in sentence, then perhaps you should seriously consider branching out into freelance writing.

If you are already earning money blogging, it’s very likely that you can make money doing freelance writing; because you already have what it takes to be successful — a passion and flair for writing and marketing your blog, which would come in handy as you enter the world of freelance writing.

You’d need your passion and flair for writing when you do freelance writing, and the marketing skills to market your skills to thousands of potential clients who are constantly outsourcing their copywriting needs.

I see the potential in many of you

I personally see the potential in many of you — you being the Malaysian bloggers — to earn income from freelance writing, perhaps earning a few hundred dollars a month, for a start.

How do I know this? I know, because many of you are the person whom I’m not. You write better English, you know more about SEO, website promotion, traffic generation, IT, codes and whatnots, than I do.

To tell you the truth, there are times I just wish I could write like many of you.

Can you write about these topics?

If you look at the latest freelance writing projects, or the list of freelance projects on this blog’s sidebar, you would notice the types of projects or writing assignments you could place your bid on.

Notice that the keyword here is “bid”, not “take”, meaning writing assignments are not a given. You can continue reading or start bidding for writing projects now.

It’s called “bid”, because you would be doing that — you bid for writing assignments and if you are chosen, you deliver the article and you’d get paid. You bid by stating the the price you would charge for the project and the duration you expect to complete them.

Where to start?

Good question. First, if you think you can deliver some of the projects listed on this blog’s sidebar or on the freelance writing exchange, you need to sign up for freelance writing exchange so that you can place your bid for the project. Sign up here to bid for the projects.

The million-dollar question

Of course, the million dollar question you might want to ask is, who am I to tell you all this, and had I made any money of my own from freelance writing.

To tell you honestly I have not made any. There are two reasons for this I think and both have to do with the lack of self-confident.

You see, one of the requirements of a successful freelance writers is the ability to write in English and I think I’m lacking in that department.

It is not unusual to see project proposers to make it their requirement that a copy must be written in “perfect English”. Some even put the clause “if you are not a native speaker of English, you don’t need to bid” for certain projects.

The other reason is that I am no techie. I haven’t come to a stage where I could be come comfortable with my level of knowledge. So, with me, it’s a matter of confident. Having said that, I’m now all the more determined to improve because I really like writing.
