Blogging For Money: The Story Of A Fly And An Ant
Posted on November 14th, 2007 in blog |
Opps, I almost spell ant, “aunt” — the story of a fly and an aunt. Anyway, off to the subject of this entry.
Some of you who have Mybloglog’s “recent readers” widget installed on your blog, might notice the presence of a reader whose picture is an image of an ant hauling a dead fly, like the one pictured here.
My ant and my fly
That’s me visiting your blogs, and trying to find inspiration and sometimes to draw strengths from them.
Sometimes I just dropped by, read a few lines and a few lines more or the whole post if that post is interesting. I might also dig deeper into your related posts, scroll down the main page to read recent entries, and leave a comment when I had something to say.
Catching a fly
There is a reason why I choose this image, yes the one on the upper left corner of this post.
Looking at the picture now reminds me of my conscious decision to use that image as my icon for Mybloglog. It’s a picture by yours truly, by the way, taken one afternoon back in my hometown in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
There are many possibilities why it was the ant who ended up making the food out of the fly. I’m sure we could think of a thousand and one reasons, but merely looking at the picture now reminds me of how I had asked myself which one of the creature I would become in my blogging endeavour.
Oh no, not the one dead
From the picture above, the choice, if I had one, is obvious — I do not want to end up being the one dead. I want to be the ant with its big food instead. The thought of not wanting to be the fly has been a powerful motivator to me to keep on going even when all the chips are down.
So the next time you see the ant and the fly image in your “recent readers”, that is me visiting your blogs — and drawing inspirations and strengths from them so that I don’t have to end up like the fly… being hauled by the ant even though the fly can fly.
