[NOTE: This post will remain on the top page of this blog until April 10, 2008 when I complete this quest. Please scroll down for latest entries]

Last Friday (October 11, 2007), I created a blog to cater for a topic which I think I’m passionate about. I won’t say what topic that is or the URL of that blog, at least not for the time being.

My little experiment

The fact is, I want to do a little experiment on that blog — I’m going to blog every day, or post an entry every calendar day, for six months, and implement a set of strategy in the process and see what will happen.

It’s a challenge I’ve got to take if I want to ever dream of achieving something through blogging. I think I can do it, with the help of the post timestamp feature of Wordpress. But even then, it’s going to be difficult. But whoever says blogging is easy?

Inspired by Yaro Starak

I was inspired to embark on this quest after reading Yaro Starak’s Blog Profits Blueprint, in which he said, and I quote:

“Consistency is such a key component of successful blogging that I advise people to forget about profits for the first few months — even six months if necessary — and focus on giving value.

“This reasoning suggests you choose a topic that you personally could sit down and write something about every day without reward (that’s a good question to ask yourself — can you write every day on the topic you are considering to blog about?)” [Yaro Starak, “Blog Profits Blueprint“, Page 15).

So I want to take it upon myself to shoulder that task for six month — that’s a half long year.

Quest to end on April 10, 2008

I had officially begun my quest on October 11. If everything goes one according to plan, I should be celebrating my success on April 10, 2008. Only time will tell how I’d be doing.

So far, I’m doing fine, but it’s still too early to say.

You might ask, why not implement the experiment here in Jaxon’s Review? But no. This blog has a different concept and I don’t think I can be realistically optimistic about its successful conclusion here.

What about quality?

Quality of the posts will be one of the things to be considered when embarking on a quest like this but even if some or half of the posts will be of “low” quality, they would still be contributing to the larger picture of the quest.

It’s like running a marathon. Some of the strides you make might be of “low” quality but they still contribute to completion of the run.

I shall be reporting the progress here in Jaxon’s Review and to sum it up, I would come up with a report after the completion of the quest.

That sounds very fulfilling yet challenging. But when you do experience a blogger burnout I’m sure you will feel really good. :)

Danny: Thanks for coming by. It sounds interesting.. and I want to see if that can be done.

Ah Pek: Not pressure la.. just testing and practising. Who knows one day I need to do that, so, got to get through the experience. Some more the topic is not that heavy.
