paypal.jpgI know this is no longer news to many of you. In fact this is already a week-old story, but look at it this way — this is a follow-up news, like an aftershock, for a major breaking news last week which has the Malaysian blogging community cheering.

It’s the news about the convenience to withdraw fund from PayPal using debit or credit card. Today, I received an e-mail from PayPal, confirming what I’ve read about the matter.

Bloggers high-fived each other

This is indeed a good news to many Malaysian publishers who have had to resort to various ingenious means to withdraw their PayPal funds.

This is also a great news to me personally. I had been a PayPerPost postie previously but the lack of facility to withdraw from PayPal had discouraged me from taking opportunities from PPP.

Frustration

In fact, I was so frustrated that I rejected a payment from PPP into my PayPal account. It was not much, only US$5.10 but there I was venting my frustration. I realise now how stupid and puerile that action was.

Letter to PayPal

In fact in February this year, I’ve written to PayPal to inquire about my difficulties in transfering my fund to my Malaysian bank account. This is the reply I got:

“We are sorry to inform you that the only way for Malaysia account to withdraw funds is to use a US bank account which must be located in US soil and denominated in U.S.Dollars.

Sorry for the inconvenience that may cause you.

Thanks again for contacting us, and thank you for being part of the PayPal community.”

What a relief that the problem is resolved now. I won’t go into details on how to go about setting your PayPal account to activate the new facility because were many bloggers who had already done that.

Blessing in disguise?

I guess not being able to withdraw funds from PayPal previously — and the fact that I stopped writing for PPP because of that — had been a blessing in disguise, for me at least.

Otherwise, I would have ended up turning all my blogs into PPP sites.
